posted by benjyAnother perfect weather day, just right to brew another batch of session ale. This time it’s batch 17 of the Boathouse Bitter, with the usual tweaks to the recipe. The grist is Maris Otter, crystal 55, carapils, biscuit, and flaked maize, mashed again for a no-sparge brew. Hops were Target in pellet form for bitterness, along with Kent Goldings and organic Pacific Gem for later additions. Original gravity turned out to be 1.040, and fermentation started quickly when racked onto the English ale yeast from the previous batch of Landlord.
We racked the Landlord to a corny keg and the pin, each with a couple ounces of Kent Goldings in plug form. Racking gravity was 1.013 on both fermenters. Should be ready to quaff in a week!
